Hi, I'm Simon
I’m a Staff Product Designer and builder with a high bar for craft and a bias toward action, drawn to complex products across AI, developer tools, and data.

Ways of working
- I care a lot about craft, but I also like to move. I’m comfortable making calls with incomplete information, putting something in front of people, and learning from it.
- I like owning problems end-to-end, from figuring out what we should be doing through to the details of what actually ships.
- I’m happiest working closely with engineers. Increasingly that means getting into the code myself, building prototypes, and using working software to think through problems.
- I enjoy ambiguity and the process of finding clarity in it. A lot of design, to me, is gradually getting to a better understanding of the problem, the language around it, and what actually matters.
- I care about systems, but not uniformity for its own sake. Different problems sometimes need different patterns. What matters more to me is that the whole thing feels coherent and that the underlying concepts are clear.
- I’m particularly interested in what AI changes about how products should work. I think there’s limited value in taking familiar software patterns and adding a copilot to them. The more interesting work is figuring out what becomes possible when you design around AI and its non-determinism from the beginning.
- I’m not precious about process or tools. I’ll use whatever helps me understand something, communicate it, or get it built.
Outside of work
I'm a parent, husband, runner, musician, and .
I've made electronic music for most of my adult life, and still spend a lot of time thinking about modular synthesizers. I run a lot, like being outside, and increasingly care about building a life where ambitious work can coexist with family, health, and having enough time left to make things just because I want to.
